WACA Dispute Resolved, Apology Received

WACA MUSINGS XVIII

I am pleased to confirm the WACA Board last week rescinded its purported suspension of me.

The Chair and Deputy Chair yesterday communicated this advice to all Members inclusive of a Board apology to me for the original suspension decision and added “we are pleased to advise that the dispute regarding the recent suspension of Mr Paul Collins has been resolved.”

Recission means the parties positions are restored as if the purported suspension never happened.

I have been consistent in arguing the suspension was invalid and needed to be rescinded. I have also been consistent in asking for an apology.

I am grateful for the recission and I accept the Board’s apology.

Strict confidentiality prevents me from discussing further the matter surrounding the purported suspension.

Moving forward I am focused on addressing the WACA’s significant financial shortfall left under the former CEO’s tenure in completing the WACA Ground redevelopment.

Thank you to all persons who have rallied behind me in righting this injustice. Your support has been unwavering.

As this injustice was resolved outside of court, I will be maintaining my commitment to donate all funds to the Lord’s Taverners Association to provide financial support for disadvantaged cricketing players who may not otherwise be able to play cricket or improve their cricket skills. This formed the basis of Taverners’ charter of ‘giving the young and disadvantaged a sporting chance’.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could lift that donation of support to $10,000.

Next year is the National Championships for Blind, Deaf and Intellectually Disabled Cricket and the Lord’s Taverners take on a huge financial burden in financing the event.
