Surplus Staff ?

STIRLING COUNCIL MUSINGS VI

The City of Stirling has closed 3 public swimming pools, 6 libraries, a number of gymnasiums and cancelled public events but has not stood down any full time or part time staff.

However, the City can’t redeploy all their surplus staff because Mayor Mark Irwin is quoted in the minutes of the last Council meeting( 7 April p.19) as follows:-

“The City is finalising a partnership agreement with St Vincent de Paul to enable some employees affected by facility/service closures to be redeployed to operate food centres that will directly assist the vulnerable in our local community.”

Mayor Mark Irwin

Is this a fair use of ratepayers’ money?
